Military personnel, veterans and the City of Southampton (Albion) Band will gather at Guildhall Square before setting off in a Remembrance parade at 10.35am towards the Cenotaph in Watts Park, where the annual service of remembrance will begin shortly before 11am.

The service is expected to last around one hour, and everyone is welcome to attend. The order of service can be found online.

The Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of Southampton Councillor Pat Evemy, The Sheriff of Southampton, Councillor Kathrine Barbour, the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, Colonel (Retd) Charles Ackroyd TD RD DL, the Honorary Recorder, The Right Reverend Geoff Annas and Canon Michael Dennehy will be in attendance, along with other key members of Southampton City Council.

The Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of Southampton, Councillor Pat Evemy said:

“I encourage everyone who is able to join us at the Cenotaph for our annual Remembrance Service and Parade. Coming together as a community gives us time to pause, remember and say a heartfelt thank you to all those who have served, those who continue to serve, and their families. Southampton’s wartime role and the resilience of its people make this a particularly meaningful occasion for our city.”

Archie Parsons from Southampton Royal British Legion said:

"Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day give us a chance to come together, remember and offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone who played a part in securing peace, and to those who helped rebuild Southampton into the city we know today. I warmly invite everyone to join us on Sunday 8 November as we honour their contribution and keep their memory alive."

In recent years, over 2000 poppies have been generously knitted and donated by communities across Southampton to create a display at the Cenotaph for Remembrance and in local libraries. These will be on display again this year.

For those wishing to attend the event, please consider using sustainable transport. Southampton has a number of options including Park & Ride, bus and rail.
