Southampton City Council's Junior Neighbourhood Wardens were once again responsible for hosting the fun, free community Play Day in Hoglands Park on Friday 24 July.
Around 2,500 people of all ages enjoyed the event, which coincided with the start of the summer holidays for children across Southampton.
Play Day featured an array of activities including a giant inflatable bouncy castle, face painting, sports and arts and crafts. Providing open community events that celebrate the city of Southampton, and help to get people outside, is a core part of the Southampton City Plan promoting a healthier and greener Southampton - utilising open spaces for the benefit of the city.
Ian Mitchell, Junior Neighbourhood Wardens Co-ordinator at Southampton City Council said:
Play Day is one of the biggest events of the year for the Junior Wardens so it was fantastic to see so many people turn out and enjoy the day. The Junior Wardens are all about inspiring pride in young people within their communities and Play Day was a fantastic way to bring everyone together for some summer fun.

The Junior Neighbourhood Wardens is the council's flagship youth engagement programme. They empower young people aged 7-12, providing them with the skills, knowledge and opportunities needed to thrive and provide positive contributions to their communities.
