Southampton Park and Ride Service Ready for New Football Season

With the new Championship football season kicking off this weekend, Southampton City Council is encouraging Saints supporters to make matchdays easier by using the PR2 Park & Ride service to travel to and from St Mary's Stadium.

As Southampton FC prepare for their opening home fixture against Stoke City (22nd August at 3pm), fans can plan their journeys to take advantage of the dedicated PR2 matchday service offering a simple, convenient, and affordable alternative to driving into the city and searching for parking near the stadium.

Operating from Adanac Park, just off Junction 1 of the M271, the PR2 service takes supporters directly to Kingsway, a short, accessible walk from St Mary's Stadium. The service runs from three hours before kick-off and continues for up to two hours after the final whistle, helping fans enjoy a smoother journey on matchdays.

The PR2 service forms part of Southampton's wider Weekend Park & Ride offer with PR1 running every weekend from Adanac Park to Albion Place in the City Centre, providing a simple, sustainable and affordable way to travel into the city centre while helping to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality, all for just Β£3 for one car and up to five people.

Jon Clarke, Chief Operating Officer at Southampton Football Club, said:

We want every matchday to start and end as smoothly as possible for our supporters. The PR2 Park & Ride service is a great way for fans to avoid the hassle of city centre traffic and parking, and it's a more sustainable way to travel too, helping cut congestion and improve air quality around the city. It means fans can relax, enjoy the build-up, and focus on the football. We'd encourage anyone travelling in for the new season to make the most of it.

Councillor Jacqui Rayment, Cabinet Member for Transport, said:

With a new football season getting underway and the first home match this weekend, we're encouraging Saints fans travelling from outside the city to choose a simple, affordable and convenient way to get to St Mary's: the PR2 Park & Ride service.

"Whether you're a regular season ticket holder or coming along to support the team for the first time this season, Park & Ride helps make your journey part of an enjoyable matchday experience as well as making for a healthier and greener Southampton, making it a win-win for fans and the city.

The PR2 Park & Ride service operates from Adanac Park (SO16 0AZ), with tickets available via the Bluestar app or on the bus.
